Southern pilgrims to pay N8.7m as NAHCON sets 2025 Hajj fare
The official fare for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage was revealed by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, or NAHCON, and it represents a considerable increase over previous years. According to the commission's rules, pilgrims from the northern zone should pay N8,457,685.59.
Those from Borno and Adamawa states should pay N 8,327,125.59. The fare for Southern states is the highest at N 8,784,085.59.
In a statement released yesterday, NAHCON spokesperson Fatimah Usara said that Vice President Kashim Shettima had approved the fare following lengthy discussions.
With input from FSEC, the forum of state executive secretaries, NAHCON Chairman Abdullahi Saleh, and other important stakeholders, the statement highlighted efforts to keep fares from soaring.
The 2024 pilgrimage was originally estimated to cost N4.5 million, but it was then raised to N4.9 million and then changed to N8.5 million for new registrants.
This fare modification came after a history of growing expenses. Last year, pilgrims who made deposits, however, paid N6.8 million.
In order to prevent problems, NAHCON urged potential pilgrims to observe Saudi Arabia's regulations, adhere to deadlines, and pay in advance. It also credited the new fee structure to cooperative efforts aimed at inclusivity.
