Speed Darlington granted bail after nearly a month in police custody
Stanley Alieke, the lawyer for well-known controversial rapper Darlington Achakpo, also known as Speed Darlington, announced on his Instagram account Monday that the singer had been released from police custody after almost a month in custody.
“Apki has been granted bail by the court,” he wrote without including much information.
The rapper was arrested on November 27 while performing at a show in Owerri, Imo State, and his arrest was linked to an alleged abuse of Afrofusion artist Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy.
Darlington's lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, also acknowledged that Burna Boy was the reason for his arrest, accusing Burna Boy of being linked to the troubled American rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs, who is facing numerous charges for human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
His first arrest resulted from this. Speed Darlington vowed upon his arrival to never back down from criticising the Grammy winner for his ties to the troubled Diddy.
Earlier, Darlington’s lawyer, Adeyanju claimed that the singer would be arraigned within 48 hours or be released on bond.
