Desire Oparanozie, a former captain of the Super Falcons, has ended her illustrious career after winning four WAFCON championships, competing in four World Cups, and having a bus stop in France dedicated after her, reports EBENEZER BAJELA.
Desire Oparanozie, a striker for the Super Falcons, announced her retirement from both club and national football on Wednesday, bringing a conclusion to a remarkable career.
Oparanozie announced the end of her football career in a post on her X account.
She wrote, “To my fans, family, and friends, thank you for the show of love and support over the years. It’s time to take a bow, as I believe there’s no better time than now. I’m officially announcing my retirement from professional football for both club and country.
“To every team and coach I have played for, to every mate I’ve played alongside, and to every opponent I have played against, thank you all for being part of this incredible journey. Thank you football, thank you Nigeria.â€
Oparanozie played 35 times and scored 22 goals with the Super Falcons before she retired.
