At the University of Benin main gate on Sunday, gunmen suspected of being cultists shot an unidentified student and murdered a middle-aged male.The man was killed on the university's campus in Ugbowo, Benin City, according to Uniben Gist, a blog that reports events both inside and outside the institution.The victim appeared to be in a GLK Mercedes minivan with the registration number AAA 601 HT, Lagos, according to videos of the incident that TheCable was able to view.According to witnesses, the attackers pursued the automobile, overtook the driver, and shot both his corpse and the car.The victim was recognized by onlookers as a political science department part-time student who had just finished his semester exams.The university's national union of biochemistry students confirmed the attack in a statement, acknowledging that one of the students was shot and sent to the hospital right away.The afflicted student's identity was not revealed in the announcement.“We can confirm that a 400-level Biochemistry student was caught in the crossfire during the encounter. A bullet pierced her shoulder and rib. She has suffered significant blood loss, but she’s stable now,” the statement reads.Source
