Taraba, Anambra get new police commissioners
The appointment of new Commissioners of Police for the Taraba and Anambra State Commands has been authorised by the Police Service Commission.
In place of CP Peter Oparah, the commission named Chukwudi Ariekpere of Abia State as the new Commissioner of Police for Taraba State.
In a similar vein, Bayelsa State's Livingstein Orutugu has been named Anambra State's Commissioner of Police, succeeding Obong Nnache Itam.
The chairman of the commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.), advised the newly appointed commissioners to get settled in their new positions as soon as possible to avoid any security failures, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by PSC spokeswoman Ikechukwu Ani.
“The new commissioners should quickly settle into their duty posts and ensure there is no gap that may lead to a breakdown of law and order,” the statement read.
Argungu also emphasised the necessity to fight the threat of bandits and criminals around the nation and urged the recently hired CPs to be devoted to their duties.
