Taraba: Gov Kefas declares state of emergency on education
The situation of basic and post-basic education in Taraba situation has been placed under emergency regulation by Governor Agbu Kefas.
At a media interaction on Saturday in Jalingo, he declared that his administration would provide quality, free, and mandatory education for everyone.
The governor expressed his concern over the poor status of education and added that the administration would increase teacher training and retraining in the state.
Kefas pledged to implement incentives to improve the teachers' well-being.
He gave the populace assurances that lives and property would be protected, stressing that security would be his primary concern.
The governor also stated that he would implement a peer review process when allocating projects to local government areas, emphasizing that people would be free to select the regions they believed should receive priority for development initiatives.
“We shall consult the people of various local government areas to decide on projects that are good for them.
“They are the ones who voted for us and, as such, we should engage them in project locations. This would make us serve them better,†he said.
