Taraba police found decomposed bodies of Monarch's wives, children
The corpses of the two wives and five children who were abducted along with their traditional leader of Mutum-Biyu, Justice Sani Muhammad (rtd), in Gassol Local Council have been found, according to the Taraba State Police Command.
Recent gunmen raids in Jalingo resulted in the abduction of the monarch's wives and children.
Their whereabouts have been unclear since the kidnappers cut off contact with the family.
Confirming the report, the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Usman Abdullahi, said: “It is true that the bodies of the seven members of the monarch’s family have been found.â€
He continued by saying that two spouses and six children, totaling eight family members, had been abducted.
He revealed that the kidnappers killed the other children while one managed to escape from their hideout.
The monarch also acknowledged that the bodies of his two wives and five children, who are all dead, have been discovered.
Visibly dejected, he said: “The bodies of my family members killed by the kidnappers have been found and will be brought to Mutum-Biyu for burial today (Saturday).â€
Residents who talked with The Guardian expressed regret that the state administration had not taken any proactive measures to rescue the victims.
In order to avoid a repeat of the occurrence, they begged the Federal Government to send more security personnel to the council.
