TCN announces completion of tower relocation, restores power to Abuja substation
To the satisfaction of citizens in the Federal Capital Territory, the Transmission Company of Nigeria stated three days after the deadline that eight 132kV and 33kV towers along the Kukwaba/Apo 132kV transmission line will be completely relocated.
Additionally, it said that the 132/33kV Apo Transmission Substation will get full bulk power again, guaranteeing that the region's regular power distribution would resume.
This was revealed by the TCN on Friday in a statement that was signed by Ndidi Mbah, its general manager of public affairs.
Remember how the business declared on January 3 that it would be moving eight towers along the Kukwaba/Apo transmission line because of the Federal Capital Development Authority's road dualisation project?
TCN added that a planned power outage from Monday, January 6 to Monday, January 20, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, will be required for the relocation operation.
According to the report, this was the projected time needed to disassemble and rebuild the towers and re-string the power cables so that the bulk power supply from the Gwagwalada Substation could resume to the Apo Transmission Substation.
It stated that the road construction project required the relocation of the transmission towers and promised that power will be restored as soon as the towers' relocation and cable stringing were finished.
