TCN increases power supply in four states
An expansion of bulk power supply to further northern states in Nigeria has been announced by the Transmission Company of Nigeria.
This enhancement came when the Ugwuaji–Makurdi–Jos 330kV Transmission Line 2 was successfully energised.
On Thursday in Abuja, TCN released the update in a statement signed by Ndidi Mbah, the general manager of public affairs.
Consequently, more shipments can now be received by the Jos, Kaduna, Kano, and Yola Distribution Companies for further customer distribution.
Due to vandalism of the 330kV double circuit transmission Lines 1 and 2 along the same route, the 330kV Ugwuaji–Apir transmission lines had not been operational since October 21, 2024. On 30 October 2024, Line 1 was fixed and reopened.
Two towers along the 330kV Shiroro–Kaduna transmission Lines 1 and 2 as well as the Ugwuaji–Apir line sustained major damage from vandals a month ago.
17 states experienced a significant blackout as a result of this catastrophe, with Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, Gombe, and Katsina suffering the most.
