Three discovered dead from car accident on Sagamu-Benin expressway
A Toyota Sienna vehicle that crashed into the Omo River near Area J4 on the Sagamu-Benin motorway on Saturday has so far been verified to have killed three people and injured one additional person.
Mrs. Florence Okpe, the Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, verified the occurrence to reporters.
She said, “The accident occurred around 11:55 am and the suspected cause of the crash was excessive speed and loss of control which made the vehicle plunge into the river.
"The vehicle marked APP 830 HX was coming from Benin and heading to Lagos.â€
According to the FRSC spokeswoman, the deceased's bodies were placed in the mortuary of the State General Hospital in Ijebu-Ode.
In the single-vehicle collision, three adult males were discovered dead, and one person was injured, according to Okpe. The hurt person was sent to a hospital for medical attention.
She also cited Anthony Uga, State Sector Commander of FRSC, who said the tragedy may have been prevented if caution had been taken.
According to the sector commander, many traffic accidents on that highway are caused by drivers exceeding the posted speed limit, particularly those operating commercial vehicles.
