Tinubu appoints Hakeem Odumosu as new EFCC chairman
Hakeem Odumosu, a retired assistant inspector general of police (AIG), has been appointed by President Bola Tinubu as the actual chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Odumosu's nomination is contingent on Senate approval.
The former anti-corruption agency chairman was placed on leave by Tinubu on Wednesday.
A statement from the presidency explained that Bawa’s suspension is “to allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office. This follows a weighty allegation of abuse of office levelled against him.â€
The Department of State Services (DSS) later invited Bawa for questioning.
