Tinubu flies to New York for 78th UNGA
In order to attend the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), which is scheduled to take place between September 18 and September 26, 2023, President Bola Tinubu has travelled from Nigeria to New York in the United States.
"Rebuilding Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity: Accelerating Action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards Peace, Prosperity, Progress, and Sustainability for All" is the topic of the gathering this year.
Since taking office as president in May, Tinubu has only attended this particular UNGA gathering.
Ajuri Ngelale, the president's spokeswoman, said that on the margins of the summit, the president will meet privately with a number of world leaders, including US Vice President Joe Biden and EU Commission President Von Der Leyen.
The head of worldwide affairs for Meta Technologies, Nick Clegg, and Microsoft's Brad Smith are also anticipated to meet with the president.
On September 19, he will also likely make his first official national speech on the floor of the UN building.
The President will deliver a speech to American business leaders at the US Chamber of Commerce on September 19 and preside over the NASDAQ closing ceremony.
