Tinubu sacks PTAD executive secretary thirteen months after reappointment
Thirteen months after being reappointed for a further four years in office, President Bola Tinubu removed Dr. Chioma Ejikeme, the Executive Secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate, of her duties.
The President announced the appointment of Tolulope Odunaiya as the new executive secretary in a statement released on Monday by Olugbenga Ajayi, Head of PTAD's Corporate Communications Unit.
Odunaiya formally took over at the PTAD Headquarters on November 18, 2024, replacing Ejikeme, who was in office from August 2019 to November 2024, according to the release.
Ejikeme was reappointed as the executive secretary of the PTAD by Tinubu in October 2023. Odunaiya promised to build on the accomplishments of her predecessors while promoting a culture of cooperation and solidarity in her inaugural speech to the staff.
She stated, “It is with a deep sense of responsibility and purpose that I address you as the new Executive Secretary of this Directorate. I want to begin by acknowledging the remarkable work of my predecessors and the dedication of every individual who has contributed to bringing us to this point.”
She emphasised her vision of a collaborative work environment, saying, “My vision is for a directorate where every individual feels recognised, empowered and motivated to make meaningful contributions.
“I urge all of us to transcend personal interests and come together around our shared purpose: improving the lives of our pensioners, who have selflessly served this nation, often in challenging circumstances.”
