Trailer crushes three vehicles in Ibadan, leaving 16 people dead

Three cars were crushed by a trailer on the Lagos-Ibadan motorway on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of at least sixteen people. 

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyo sector command spokesman, Mayowa Odewo, stated in a statement that the accident occurred at the Ojoo, Iwo road interchange in the state capital of Ibadan. 

Odewo stated that out of the 35 people engaged in the tragedy, 17 people suffered varying degrees of injury and two people managed to escape unharmed.

According to him, the following vehicles were engaged in the collision: a Nissan commercial bus with registration number MUB 20 LG, a Nissan Micra cab with registration number BDJ 520 YC, a Honda Accord SUV with registration number KRD 707 ER, and a Mack trailer with registration number AKM 548 ZY. 

According to the FRSC representative, the trailer's brakes failed, which led to the accident. 

The bodies and damaged cars have been turned over to the police, according to Odewo, who also stated that the injured victims were sent to a local hospital for medical treatment.
