Troops arrest notorious terrorist leader, others
According to the Defence Headquarters, Nigerian military have captured seven IPOB/ESN commanders in the South-East and infamous terrorist leader Abubakar Ibrahim (also known as Habu Dogo) in Sokoto in the past week.
According to a statement released on Saturday by Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, Director, Defence Media Operations, Habu Dogo was captured in Rumji Village, which is located in the Illela Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
He claims that due of the cross-border nature of his terrorist actions, Habu Dogo is a wanted terrorist on the security services' watch lists in both Nigeria and the Niger Republic.
He said that Dr. Nnamdi Chukwudoze and Chigozie Ezetoha, also known as Chapet, were among the suspected IPOB/ESN terrorists that were captured in Anambra's Ihiala Local Government Area.
“Others are, Mrs Ngozi Chukwuka and Mr Oyekachi Ohia who were arrested in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia,” he said.
According to him, Elijah Mmaduipeya Obumneke was detained in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo, while Mr. Ifeanyi Eze, Mr. Augustine Udemba, and Mr. Onyedikachi Udemba were apprehended in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia.
“The ongoing counter insurgency and counter terrorism operations has continued to degrade the combat capacity of terrorists across the country,” he said.
