Trump launches $399 shoes in Philadelphia
As he approaches the Republican nomination, Donald Trump made an appearance at 'Sneaker Con' in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, over the weekend to introduce a new line of golden trainers bearing his name.
The shoes, which are marketed as "Never Surrender High-Tops" for $399 on a new website that also sells other Trump-branded shoes, "Victory47" cologne, and perfume for $99 a bottle, were unveiled by the former US president to loud cheers and jeers at the Philadelphia Convention Centre.
The GOP front-runner for president, his company, and his associates were found guilty of inflating the value of assets to secure favourable bank loans, and as a result, they were ordered to pay almost $355 million in fines and face a three-year ban from doing business in the state. This verdict, which came after New York Justice Arthur Engoron delivered a damning verdict in their civil fraud trial on Friday, was the catalyst for Mr. Trump's latest desperate cash grab.
Mr. Trump has screamed at the ruling and promised to file an appeal.
The incident happened after he was mandated to reimburse E Jean Carroll $83.3 million for defamation damages last month.
