Twitter Layoff: Twitter co-founder, Jack Dorsey, apologises to fired staff
Jack Dorsey, the co-founder and former CEO of Twitter, has expressed regret to the thousands of workers who were impacted by the new owner Elon Musk's mass layoffs.
In his first public response to the developments at Twitter, Dorsey said that many of the impacted employees were upset with him because he had put them in their current predicament. He claims that he is accountable for the situation because he "raised the company size too soon."
Twitter reportedly employed 8,000 people before Elon Musk acquired the company, and 3,700 of them are currently being asked to quit.
Musk claimed on Saturday that Twitter was losing $4 million daily as a result of its enormous workforce, necessitating the widespread layoffs.
Dorsey's response to the development: The co-founder of Twitter responded to the news of the changes at Twitter by saying:
“Folks at Twitter, past and present, are strong and resilient. They will always find a way, no matter how difficult the moment is. I realize many are angry with me. I own the responsibility for why everyone is in this situation: I grew the company size too quickly. I apologize for that.â€
“I am grateful for, and love, everyone who has ever worked on Twitter. I don’t expect that to be mutual at this moment, or ever, and I understand,†he added in a tweet.
