Two Pakistani drug dealers caught at Lagos Airport with cocaine
While attempting to board a Qatar Airways flight to Lahole, Pakistan through Doha, two Pakistani drug dealers were apprehended at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos with eight kilograms of cocaine hidden in a Public Address (PA) system.
The accused were detained by NDLEA agents working on behalf of the agency.
Asif Muhammed, 45, and Hussain Naveed, 57, were identified as the two suspects by NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi in a statement on Sunday.
He claimed that the pair frequently travelled to Nigeria under the pretence of conducting textile business. They are believed to have fake residence permits from Nigeria.
"They were arrested on Saturday 5th November at the Lagos airport barely a week after they came to Nigeria, that is, Sunday 30th October,†he said.
According to Babafemi, on November 4th, agents at the airport's SAHCO import shed seized 13 cartons of Tramadol 225mg and 200mg that were brought in from Karachi, Pakistan.
According to him, the shipment contains 642,800 pills of the pharmaceutical opioid and weighs a total of 465,10kg.
The Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), urged them and their counterparts across the nation not to rest on their oars until all drug syndicates operating in Nigeria are completely dismantled and the last gram of illicit substance is removed from the streets. Babafemi added that while praising the officers and men of the MMIA command of the Agency for the successful operations in the previous week.
