Ukraine's interior minister Denys Monastryskyy, among those who died in helicopter crash
Denys Monastyrskyy, the interior minister of Ukraine, along with his deputy and the state secretary of the ministry, perished in a helicopter crash outside of Kyiv.
The deaths were verified in a tweet by Anton Gerashchenko, a counselor to the Ukrainian minister of internal affairs.
“My friends, statesmen Denys Monastyrskyi, Yevhen Yenin, Yurii Lubkovych, everyone who was on board that helicopter, were patriots who worked to make Ukraine stronger,†he tweeted.
A significant figure in the Ukrainian government, Mr. Monastyrskyy was frequently spotted with President Zelenskyy.
The now-deceased minister's chopper crashed while he was traveling to a "hot area" in the conflict, according to Kyrylo Tymoshenko, the deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential office.
According to the BBC, two children were killed after a helicopter crashed in the Brovary area close to a kindergarten. The building was occupied by workers and students at the time of the collision.
In the hospital, 10 youngsters are among the 22 patients who are currently receiving care.
The governor of Kiev reports that there have been a total of 18 fatalities in the crash.
Nine persons were aboard the aircraft, according to Maryana Reva, a spokeswoman for the National Police, who was speaking to Ukrainian TV.
In a video that Mr. Gerashchenko posted, a building that appears to be the kindergarten where the helicopter crashed is on fire.
He shared another image of firefighters ascending the structure where the fire had previously been.
