Ukrainian strikes kill 14, injure many in Russian border city
According to Russian officials, Ukraine has launched several deadly strikes on targets in southwest Russia during the last 24 hours.
According to the Russian emergency ministry, the city of Belgorod has seen 14 fatalities, including two children, and dozens of injuries.
According to a Ukrainian security source who spoke with the BBC, Kyiv shot 70 drones at military targets in Russia; the source blamed Russian air defences for the fragments that fell in Belgorod.
This attack seems to be among the deadliest on Russia that has occurred so far in the war.
Although Ukraine has not taken responsibility for these drone strikes, Moscow has frequently accused Ukraine of carrying out drone strikes on its territory.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, 39 people were killed in Russian strikes on Ukraine on Friday, which preceded today's attacks.
Attacks were launched against cities all over Ukraine, including the nation's capital, Kyiv; Lviv; Odesa and Zaporizhzhia; Dnipro; and Kharkiv.
The governor of the Kherson region says one person died during Russian shelling of a residential building. “The information is being clarified,†Oleksandr Prokudin adds in a post on Telegram.
Additionally, it is said that airstrikes in Kharkiv have damaged civilian infrastructure. The head of the regional administration, Oleg Sinegubov, charges Russia of delivering "more than six blows" in a post on Telegram.
He claims that some of these hit central Kharkiv, which is where we previously reported shelling.
