Update: WhatsApp introduces editing feature to chats
WhatsApp, an instant messaging service, has unveiled a new feature that lets users edit messages within the app.
Sent messages can still be modified 15 minutes after they have been sent, according to the CEO of Meta, who introduced the new functionality on Monday. Users previously had to choose between deleting a message and sending a correction in a different message.
Nevertheless, WhatsApp's rivals Telegram and Signal have long provided the ability to edit messages. Additionally, last year, Twitter gave premium users access to the edit button.
In comparison to Telegram, where users have up to 48 hours to update their messages, WhatsApp's 15-minute window is quite brief. However, there is a chance that WhatsApp will increase the window. The messaging app extended the period of time needed to erase a message from 48 to 60 hours last year.
The editing feature is the most recent of many that WhatsApp has released in recent weeks. A new feature called Chat Lock, which enables users to lock and hide discussions on the app, was unveiled by Zuckerberg a few days ago.
