US launches second attack on Houthi

The United States claims to have launched its second attack on the Houthi organisation, which has targeted ships in the Red Sea, on Saturday, targeting a target in Yemen.

According to the US, this hit was a "follow-on action" that was directed at radar. The Houthis promised a forceful reaction.

President Biden stated later on Saturday that the US has sent Iran a "private message" regarding the Houthis.

“We delivered it privately and we’re confident we’re well-prepared,” Mr Biden said without giving details.

Iran disputes any role it may have had in the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea.

Tehran is thought to be providing the Houthis with weaponry, though, and the US claims that Iranian intelligence is essential to allowing them to attack ships.

With the assistance of Western allies like Australia and Canada, joint UK-US airstrikes attacked about 30 Houthi locations early on Friday.
