Veteran actress and former Busan Film Festival director Kang Soo-youn passed away in South Korea on Saturday, May 7.
It was two days after she lost consciousness at home following cardiac arrest. She was 55.
The Korean film industry has organized a funeral committee headed by Kim Dong-ho, founding director of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), now chairman of the Gangneung Film Festival.
A commemoration ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 11 and will be streamed live on the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) YouTube channel.
A steady stream of mourners is now being received for five days at Samsung Medical Centre in Seoul leading up to the memorial and farewell service, in line with Korean tradition for celebrity funerals.
