In order to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU), Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima has left Abuja for Luanda, Angola.

According to a statement released on Saturday by Stanley Nkwocha, his Senior Special Assistant on Media & Communications, the summit will concentrate on important tactics for resolving conflicts and promoting long-term peace and stability throughout the African continent.

Senator Shettima will meet with African leaders and other important stakeholders in the capital of Angola to discuss workable solutions to security issues in the area and to bolster joint efforts to prevent and resolve conflicts.

Nigeria is anticipated to contribute to discussions on bolstering continental systems for averting conflicts, settling disputes, and maintaining peace. Nigeria has continued to play a critical role in peacebuilding and conflict resolution throughout Africa and beyond.

President Tinubu's speech at the summit will be given by the Vice President, who will be accompanied by senior defence and security officials. The speech will outline Nigeria's stance on the issues at hand and reiterate the nation's commitment to peace and stability throughout the continent.

After his commitments in Angola are over, Shettima will return to Nigeria.
