WAPA empowers 100 women in Eti-Osa LGA
In the Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area, 100 women have been empowered by the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA).
The goal of the business equipment and critical skills programs was to increase the beneficiaries' self-reliance and financial independence.
Among the many vocational skills taught to the participants were makeup application, headgear tying, catering, manufacturing throw pillows, fabric stoning, decoration, and soap-making.
Additionally, each recipient was given a complete start-up package that included all the equipment they needed to start their home-based enterprises right away.
The goal of the program, according to WAPA Commissioner Mrs. Bolaji Dada, is to encourage women to start their own businesses by giving them the tools and skills they need to succeed financially.
The Commissioner, who was accompanied by Mrs. Olufunke Shyllon, the Director of the Women's Department, stated that the training is the first step towards new chances and a better future for the recipients.
She recognised the numerous obstacles that women encounter in the workplace, such as restricted access to resources, social expectations, and opportunities that could impede their advancement.
