WhatsApp to add new privacy features
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, has stated that WhatsApp users will soon be allowed to leave groups secretly. This is a component of the new privacy features the social media site has adopted.
Only the admins will be notified when leaving a group using the "Leave Groups Silently" function, as opposed to the entire group. This month, all users will begin to receive this feature.
Additionally, according to Zuckerberg, WhatsApp users can stop others from taking screenshots of messages marked as "view once."
"New privacy features coming to WhatsApp; exit group chats without alerting everyone, manage who can see when you're online, and prevent screenshots on view once messages," Zuckerberg wrote today on his Facebook page.
“We’ll keep building new ways to protect your messages and keep them as private and secure as face-to-face conversations,†he said.
"As an additional layer of security, WhatsApp is now enabling screenshot blocking for View Once messages. Users will soon be able to use this functionality, which is now undergoing testing.
The business went on to say that the launch of these new capabilities is supported by a recent WhatsApp privacy study, which indicated that while more than 47% of people only feel comfortable speaking candidly and unfilteredly in a safe, private setting, 72% of people cherish the ability to do so.
