Wike justifies why he invited Tinubu's men to commission project
Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has justified the rationale behind his invitation to representatives from the state's rival political parties to commission projects.
The governor said he wants them to visit, see what he has accomplished, and bring the word back to their homes.
He was addressing on Tuesday in Port Harcourt at the opening of the Ogbunubali Eastern Bypass dualized road.
"Nobody can stop me from inviting people from various walks of life to see what we have accomplished and what we are doing in Rivers state," the governor declared.
"The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sawolu, visited here yesterday. The former Sokoto governor was present today. "The Speaker of the House of Representatives will be here to commission the assembly residence on Thursday. "Go and see the wonders that God helped us to do."
"It is to invite you to come and see, and then go back home and compare," the message reads. "Whether you are in the Labour Party, APC, or PDP."
After Lee Meaba, a former senator for Rivers South East, labelled Wike's actions as anti-party activities, the governor defended himself.
Sen. Meaba was perplexed as to why Governor Wike, who is in the throes of campaigning, was endorsing Bola Tinubu's supporters rather than the PDP's presidential candidate.
He said, “If we see anybody who wants to stop us from producing the next government at the centre, then the person needs to know what he is fighting for.
“If you stop us from working for Atiku, that is anti-party to the highest level, I stand to be corrected.
“In the middle of our campaign, you line up Tinubu’s men, why do you line up Tinubu’s men, in the middle of our campaign, you are highlighting APC and Tinubu above our own candidateâ€.
