Wike to provide Obi with logistics support for campaigns

On Thursday, Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, vowed to provide Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate, with logistical support for his campaign in Rivers State.

Inviting the LP candidate to open the Nkpolu-Oroworokwo Flyover in Port-Harcourt, Wike also said that Obi possessed all the qualities necessary to lead Nigeria.

Wike said, “Each time you want to campaign in the state, let me know, all the logistics support, we will give to you.

“I know you as a person, you have all the criteria, you have all the characteristics to lead this country, you have it. Nobody can deny that.”

The Peoples Democratic Party has been in crisis for months as Wike, a member of the party, and four other PDP governors collectively known as the G5 have demanded the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu, the party's national chairman. They claim northerners shouldn't serve as both the party's national chairman and presidential candidate.

Speaking also to Obi at the inauguration Wike said, “If you had not left (the PDP), you would not have realised your ambition to be able to save Nigeria.”

The PUNCH previously reported that Wike also invited the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhar (ret. ), and former All Progressives Congress national chairman Adams Oshiomhole to dedicate projects in the state.
