Woman claims that Nigerian popular singer, King Sunny Ade, is her biological father

Elizabeth Temitope Ayeni is a woman who claimed Nigerian jùjú singer Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye MFR, known professionally as King Sunny Adé, is her biological father.

Speaking to PUNCH, she said her elderly mother revealed this in 2019 after years of misleading her about her birth father.

According to Ayeni, she became curious after a prophet told her that there was a secret her mother was keeping from her.

She shared how unsuccessful attempts to get through to the music star led her to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) for help, adding that even after the NHRC's intervention, all efforts to get him are still in vain.

However, the woman said the intention was to start a relationship with Sunny Ade rather than receive financial benefits.

In her words: “In 2019, a pastor told me to ask my mother to reveal a secret to me. First, I didn't take it seriously until my husband told me. So I called my mother and she admitted it to me.

"My mother said the man I always knew as my father was not my biological father. She said my biological father is Niyi and from Ondo State. When I asked who Niyi was, she said Sunny Ade, the singer.

"My mother said it all started when she was still living with her father. Then her father wanted her to marry her off to an old man, but she refused because she had met Sunny Ade earlier and was two months pregnant for him.

She said she ended up marrying the old man since she couldn't reach Sunny Ade anymore. After she got married, my mother said she was looking for Sunny Ade but couldn't find him.

“She returned to her parents after the search and gave birth to me there. When I was two years old, my mother left me with my grandma and remarried. Ever since the confession, I've been looking for Sunny Ade.

"I also went to a festival where he was performing, but I couldn't reach him. All efforts to meet him were unsuccessful, so I sought help from the NHRC.

“NHRC also took two letters and photos from him, but to no avail. All I want is to know my background, not because Sunny Ade is wealthy."
