Woman jumps into river in Lagos
According to the police, a woman who boarded a boat from Igando in Lagos State to Ogun is believed to have leaped into the river from the moving vessel.
Rescue crews were already looking for the woman, according to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer, who verified the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday night.
According to Hundeyin, at around eight in the morning on Sunday, one Rasaq reported the matter to the Igando Police Division.
Rasaq claims that on Saturday at approximately 10:00 p.m., a man named Folashade Nimotalahi, whose address is unknown, departed from their Isuti Jet, located on Isuti Road in Igando, Lagos, and boarded a boat headed for Totowu, Ogun.
“They were 12 passengers on board. Suddenly, the woman removed the life jacket she was wearing and jumped into the river.
“She left behind one nylon bag containing a bottle of sniper, Alimosho General Hospital cards and some drugs,” the spokesperson quoted Rasaq as saying in his report.
Detectives from the division made an instant visit to the location, according to Hundeyin.
He stated that while the inquiry was ongoing and efforts were being made to get in touch with the family, a search team had been called in to retrieve the body.
