Yahaya Bello released after meeting bail conditions

After fulfilling the requirements of his bail, Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi, is now free.

In violation of sections 96 and 311 of the Penal Code legislation Cap.89, Laws of Northern Nigeria, 1963, Bello has been accused of criminally breaching trust for N110,446,470,089, which is punished under section 312 of the same legislation.

Bello was given N500 million in bail by a federal capital territory (FCT) high court in Maitama on Thursday.

According to trial judge Maryann Anenih, the defendant must provide three sureties in the same amount who must be law-abiding Nigerian nationals.

The FCT's Guzape, Wuse 2, Apo, Asokoro, and Jabi regions must contain properties owned by the sureties.

Along with additional forms of identification, such as their National Identification Number (NIN), they must provide two passport photos apiece. Bello and Kogi Governor Usman Ododo may be seen celebrating in a now-viral video.
