'Yoruba Nation' Agitators: Police arraign 29 suspects in court
The Oyo State Police Command charged 29 suspected Yoruba Nation agitators on Wednesday for breaking into the state government secretariat in Ibadan, the state capital, last Saturday.
The charges against the suspects, which are listed in the case file Mi/520c/2024 between the Commissioner of Police and the 29 suspects, were brought before the Chief Magistrate Court for their roles in the invasion that was thwarted.
The charges included seven counts of treasonable felony, unlawful society, possession of a firearm without authorization, going armed, and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
Bakare Rasaq, an Inspector of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku in Ibadan, the Investigative Police Officer, claims that the offences are against the law and subject to punishment under Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.
Nine more suspects were added to the 20 that the Oyo State Police Command had previously paraded on Monday, April 15th, when they were arraigned.
