Youths protest economic hardship, insecurity in Ibadan
Hundreds of demonstrators called on President Bola Tinubu to solve the problems of hunger and insecurity in the nation on Monday during a nonviolent protest in the capital city of Ibadan, Oyo State.
The demonstrators, the majority of whom are young people, claimed they are tired of Nigeria's current situation and that they are expecting the government to take decisive action.
They carried signs that said things such, "Hunger is Killing Us," and "Tinubu Must Address Insecurity."
The high cost of living, according to the demonstrators, is another issue that makes it difficult for people to afford necessities.
The demonstration takes place at a time when Nigeria is dealing with a number of security issues, such as terrorist attacks, banditry, and kidnappings.
They claimed that food costs had also increased dramatically, making it harder for many Nigerians to provide for their families.
The demonstrators intend to bring these urgent issues to Tinubu's and the government's attention through their demonstration. Additionally, they are urging the government to take greater action to lessen public suffering and boost the nation's economy.
Although security personnel are stationed at key areas, there are concerns that the protest, which has been nonviolent thus far, could degenerate into violence if the government does not heed the demands.
